Where do I start you may be asking? Education is the best first step you can make to get a real understanding of why you should be making the swap in the first place.
Planning out your meals is a great way to keep you from falling off the bandwagon and of course, save money! There is millions of amazing plant based meals out there (and some awesome cook books you can find in store) to help you get inspired. All of our family favourite recipes are in our recipe section in blogs for you to check out also!
Get out your favourite note pad and jot down the ingredients you will need for this weeks meals and head to the grocery store. Remember being vegan doesn't have to be expensive, there is loads of money savvy meals that you can feed the family for under $10!
So they kids hate vegetables and hubby thinks vegan food is lame, I've been there, I know !
Making big changes can be quite overwhelming, especially for kids. My best suggestion for helping the family make awesome sustainable change is baby steps. In a dream world getting everyone on board at once would be awesome, but it doesn't always work that way....
Try doing up a plate of plant based nuggets with the families favourite sauces and see if they notice the difference! Another great way to hide your swaps is by making spaghetti bolognese using vegan mince, with a flavourful sauce it helps to disguise that there is no meat, any dish that uses a rich sauce such as satay, honey mustard, or chili mince helps to mask the fact that there is no meat. While it may seem a little sneaky it is great for those fussy eaters whom aren't so fond of trying new things, not to mention a lot of the meat alternatives on the market today actually taste a lot better even to staunch meat eaters.
